THOSE STUDENTS WHO ARE ENTITLED TO A FREE BUS PASS

Years 7 to 11 - Roman Catholic* students living three miles or more from St Peters and within a ten-mile radius of Gloucester Cross who are attending the nearest Catholic secondary school to their home address.

The three miles is measured by the shortest possible pedestrian route.

Families who are in receipt of the maximum working tax credit and/or free school meals will be eligible for free transport if they live between 2 miles from school and 15 miles from the Cross.

In the case of low income families this upper distance increases to fifteen miles

Under the Government Home to School Transport Policy review, this entitlement will be withdrawn from the end of the 2011/12 academic year for any new pupil applying for assistance. Those pupils already receiving transport under the entitlement will not be affected unless their circumstances change.

THOSE STUDENTS NOT ENTITLED TO A FREE BUS PASS

Year 7 to 11** Roman Catholic students who live less than three miles or outside of a ten-mile radius of Gloucester Cross.

Year 7 to 11** Non Roman Catholic students.

Sixth Form Students – There is no provision for free passes for any Sixth Form students.

Subsidised transport assistance will be provided to students over 16 years old in the following circumstances:

- Students are aged under 19 years old on 31^st August before the start of the academic year.

- Studying in a full time basis (over 16 hours per week)

- Attend the school/academy or college nearest to their home address or continue their education (attended in year 11) at the sixth form in their nearest secondary school/academy agreed by the County Council

- The home to school/college journey is three miles or more, measured by the shortest pedestrian route.

6 th Form Student Contribution

Students will have to contribute to the cost of transport to school/college. The cost for 2011/12 is £426. This can be paid by:

- One lump sum or two instalments of £213 by debit or credit card.

- In six instalments of £71 per month by direct debit.

Transport will not be provided unless payment has been arranged and will be withdrawn where the student does not continue with the contribution throughout the academic year.

**Non Entitled students. – Travel passes must be negotiated directly between the parent and the appropriate company, with the exception of passes for spare seats on Gloucester Limos services that may be purchased direct from the Integrated Transport Unit at Gloucester County Council if available.
